CMSA Accreditations: None
Rural Allowance: No
Doctors Quarters:
- No comments yet.
Academics:
- The doctors had their own academic meetings that were self-driven. Most of those doctors have now resigned.
Supervision:
- The family physician tries to be as involved as they can, but they have too many other duties and can’t get to everyone.
Clinical Exposure:
- You work in a war zone. There is nothing you won’t see or be exposed to.
Departments worked in:
- ARV clinic, Emergency Department, OPD’s - Mostly OPD and EC work.
Social Scene:
- Cape Town offers good social life.
Additional Comments:
- The clinic gives good exposure but it has been terribly mismanaged. There is no cohesion between staff disciplines, nursing staff, reception and doctors often at odds with each other. Infrastructure is terrible. Difficult patient population. Violence ++++, GBV ++++ Gang violence +++. Ultimately any place is what you make of it. When I was there we had a great team of doctors who really tried to make a difference and improve things, but the facility has a very high turnover of MOs which should tell you enough.
