"District level hospital - so you do family medicine, including primary health care clinics, which can be some distance away from the hospital.
Overall very good all-round exposure "

Informal tuts on some Fridays as well as presentations. Internal Medicine Outreach from Paarl Hospital is basically our only formal academic rounds and happens every two weeks generally. Overtime is done in EC. Total monthly overtime is never less than 80 hours a month. Generally you rotate through the wards on a monthly basis. Sometimes you get to stay a while longer if you ask - like in Maternity or Paediatrics if that is your interest. Clinics are understaffed and full. The social scene is non-existent, unless you make an effort yourself. Malmesbury, however, is close to Cape Town/Paarl/Stellenbosch. You will learn a lot by yourself and you have two amazing family physicians who work extremely hard. Overall it made me a better doctor.
