Requirements:

Current valid registration with HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Community Health/Public Health Medicine. Proof of current registration with the HPCSA for the period of 2025/2026. Proof of working experience endorsed by Human Resource. Experience Grade 1: None after registration as a Medical Specialist with Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in respect of South African qualified employees. Certified proof of service record as a Medical Specialist. Valid driver’s license. Be a South African citizen or be a permanent resident.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience in teaching and learning of under and post-graduate students. Knowledge of Public Service Legislation, policies and procedures. Excellent time management, written and verbal communication skills and report writing skills. Good-interpersonal skills with colleagues and other departments. Honesty, integrity and high work ethics.

Duties:

Service delivery and medical administration: Work within Universitas Academic Hospital and its cluster health facilities as a Public Health Medical Specialist: Support public health medicine programmes of the Department including clinical work. This appointment is on joint Free State Department of Health (FSDOH) and University of the Free State (UFS) medical establishment and thus the incumbent will have teaching and training duties. Furthermore, all academic appointees are expected to engage in active research. Participate in site-specific work-related activities which may include conducting overtime and ensure compliance with all relevant legal and statutory requirements. Perform clinical Community Health duties. Conducting clinical audits, mortality and morbidity. Monitor and evaluating of relevant clinical effectiveness indicators.
