Requirements :

  • MBChB degree or equivalent qualification PLUS
  • Proof of current registration with HPCSA (2026 Receipt)
  • Certificate of current registration with the HPCSA as a Medical specialist in Surgery.
  • Certificate of Service (Proof of Work Experience) from previous and current employer endorsed and stamped by HR must be attached.

EXPERIENCE
Medical Officer Grade 1: No experience required from South African qualified employees.
One (1) year relevant experience after registration as a Medical Practitioner with a recognized foreign health professional council in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
Medical Officer Grade 2 Five(5) years’ relevant experience as Medical Officer after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
Six (6)years’ relevant experience after registration as a Medical Practitioner with a recognized foreign health professional council in respect of foreign-qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
Medical Officer Grade 3 Ten (10) years’ relevant experience as Medical Officer after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
Eleven (11) years’ relevant experience after registration as a Medical Practitioner with a recognized foreign health professional council in respect of foreign-qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge and skills in adult and Paediatric Emergency Resuscitative intervention.
  • Clinical Knowledge in Acute and Chronic Surgical Management of patients.
  • Good interpersonal and supervisory skills.
  • Supervision of students, interns, doctors, auxiliary staff and registrars.
  • Accomplished in management of surgical trauma.
  • Knowledge and capability of performing and teaching laparoscopic surgery.

Duties :

  • Provision of quality cantered medical care to all patients in the Surgical Unit.
  • Maintain accurate medical record in accordance with legal and ethical guideline
  • Supervision of interns, doctors, auxiliary staff
  • Participation I after-hours duties is compulsory
  • Provision to assist in the outreach programs
