Rural Allowance: No
Doctors Quarters:

Academics:
- It’s an academic hospital with good teaching and academic support.
Supervision:
- I would say it can be almost over supervised for com serve. It’s not as hands on as many of the more district level facilities are for com serve
Clinical Exposure:

Departments worked in:
- Internal Medicine, Surgery
Social Scene:
- Unfortunately the com serves don’t get to interact with each other much. The hours are very long so mostly people don’t really socialise outside work or even during the very busy days
Additional Comments:
- "HJH offers time in departments that are very rare to get time in for com serve. Surgical sub specs include plastics,ENT,urology, ophthalmology, breast ,orthos and neurosurgery just depending on the number of com serves over all.
Medicine is a mix of gen med and then again sub specs such as ID, renal, rheum, resp, cardiology and neurology.
You can also do time in ICU ,ed,polyclinic and psych
It’s an intense environment with very long hours however if you know what you want to do and it’s a smaller discipline it really is an amazing opportunity to give yourself time in that discipline which really helps you confirm your interest and assists with studying for primaries and diplomas. It’s also a great in to the wits circuit "
