Requirements :
- Senior/National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery plus MMed (Nuc Med) or FCNP (SA). Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as Medical Specialist in Nuclear Medicine. Proof of current registration with the HPCSA from 01 April 2025 to 31 March 2026. A minimum of five (5) years appropriate experience as Medical Specialist in Nuclear Medicine after registration with Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). PhD will be an additional advantage. Strong record of clinical and academic expertise in Nuclear Medicine and molecular imaging; Management experience; PET/CT, SPECT/CT and radionuclide therapy expertise; Experience in research and in supervision, training and teaching at both under-and post-graduate levels. Publication record. Good interpersonal, leadership, administrative, Communication, analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience in teaching and learning, supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students. This is a joint appointment between the University of Pretoria (Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nuclear Medicine) and Steve Biko Academic Hospital.
Duties :
- Ensure effective and efficient clinical specialist level service delivery, including PET/CT; SPECT/CT and radionuclide therapy, within the domain of the central hospital as well as at other cluster hospitals where required. Involvement in interdisciplinary consultations and meetings. Support, teach and examine undergraduate and post-graduate students in the appropriate aspects of unit. Participate in University teaching programs and examinations as pertains to the relevant specialty. Initiate, perform and participate in research activities and publications in accordance with the School of Medicine plans. Take part in interdepartmental, national and international teaching and research collaborations, including NuMeRI. Assist HoD and HU with administrative duties. Form part of the after-hours specialist cover for the Nuclear Medicine department, to provide a 24hr clinical service.
