Requirements :

  • A minimum of three (3) years appropriate experience as a Medical Specialist in a normal speciality or in a recognized sub-speciality and Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Internal Medicine. Current registration as a Medical Specialist in Internal Medicine. Proven management ability, Communication (verbal and written ) and interpersonal skills, leadership skills, decision making skills, appropriate experience in clinical care, teaching, research and supervision of under- and postgraduate students; conflict resolution and problem-solving skills. Fair Understanding of basic Human Resource Finance legislation , regulations policies and frameworks. A valid driver’s license.

Duties :

  • Management and Supervision of clinical staff, assess and ensure good quality of clinical service delivery. Overall management of the Internal Medicine discipline in the hospital. Clinical management of both in-patients (including Intensive Care and High care) and outpatients (A&E and MOPD). Ensure that there are protocols for the management of common medical conditions and that there is compliance to the protocols for the management of common medical conditions. Training and supervision of Medical Interns, Medical students and other categories of health care workers. Promote and participate in outreach programs in the community and feeder clinics. Ensure quality assurance programs with respect to improving clinical outcomes and managing risks are in place. Planning and execution of operational and strategic plans for the unit . Manage human resources , budget and assets.
