Doctors Quarters:

Academics:

  • Decent academics in the OBGYN department. Great academics in the Surgical and Medicine departments. Zero academics in Casualty (No Consultant cover/ rounds).

Supervision:

  • Comserves are considered MOs here. Your calls are structured exactly as that of the MOs and you have all the responsibilities of an MO. There is good senior cover (second on call system) if you’re doing the surgical calls. Second on call us the anaesthetist (MO), who is great at helping if you get stuck during a procedure. Also, for difficult/ challenging emergency procedures, the surgical consult comes out to deal with it, given he’s also on call/ cover.

Clinical Exposure:

  • Great clinical exposure. However, if you’re keen to be a surgeon, don’t expect to be put into the surgical department. You’ll most likely be thrown into OBGYN for the entire year. But being on call, you shoulder the responsibility for all surgical and OBGYN (and Ortho) emergencies.

Departments worked in:

  • Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology - OBGYN, as anywhere in the country is high demand, high turnover. But great nursing staff makes things easy.

Social Scene:

  • MOs are great fun and make the small town life interesting.

Additional Comments:

  • Overall great facility with decent chances of gaining practical skills
