Academics:
- The staff are always keen to hear what courses you’d like to do and try and accomodate you as far as possible. Every year they have someone come and do BLS, ACLS and PALS courses at the facility and they give you those days off to attend. They also currently have an arrangement with JST hospital to accomodate doctors for 6 months to do diplomas in OnG, Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia and psychiatry.
Supervision:
- Generally you work quite independently at the CHCs. You do calls alone and cover casualty and maternity. On a daily basis, you do have doctors who are friendly and you can confer with if you need to though.
Clinical Exposure:
- Casualty at Boitekong and Tlhabane Health Centre is busy. There’s a lot of trauma and you learn to manage that independently.
Departments worked in:
- Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Emergency Department, OPD’s
Social Scene:
- Rustenburg itself does not have many places to go out to. The staff are lovely and make the experience a good one.
